A former boss to KTN news anchor Linda Oguttu has entailed her journey from a news anchor at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to her recent appointment in government.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Milton Nyakundi, Oguttu's former boss during her time at KBC, heaped praises of the news anchor noting that she was exuded confidence and her ability to adapt in any situation makes her fit for her new role.

"Yes, having been a trained journalist and she was not at the time, I was part of the team that held her hand when she came to KBC because at the time she was coming into the media out of passion but had showed great potential. Truth is she is a very professional lady, very determined and always willing to take challenges when it comes her way and I believe that could be the reason why her name was considered by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed," he stated.

At the time in KBC, Oguttu worked as a prime time news anchor.  Nyakundi pointed out that Oguttu's resilience and determination for success are key attributes that helped her way in her path to success.

"I have no doubt that as the head of the secretariat, she will be able to deliver what is expected. It's a governance position, administrative by nature and based on how she has risen from an anchor at KBC to where she is at the moment, I am sure that she is able to deliver."

"Most importantly, she has a very team around her in the Secretariat and the committee as a whole, who are willing and committed and hence she will be in safe hands," he stated.

The news anchor is set to head an eleven-member secretariat governing the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). She was appointed alongside her colleague Robin Toskin who is currently the Head of Sport's desk and hosts Sports Chat every Monday morning.

They will work as part of the secretariat that will serve for a period of six months under a committee chaired by Retired Justice Aaron Ringera.

"It is me who has been appointed to head the caretaker FKF Secretariat. But I have not assumed the roles," she stated while confirming the appointment on Thursday, November 11.

After working for KBC, Oguttu joined Nation Media Group in November 2009 as a news reporter and news anchor according to her Linkedin profile.

She worked at the station for three years and one month before ultimately joining Standard Media Group PLC in December 2012 where she works as a Senior TV news anchor hosting Checkpoint at 9pm every Sunday. She also acts as a producer and moderator
