Retired prolific defensive middle fielder, MacDonald Mariga on Saturday, March 4, shared a photo of his expensive ride.

Mariga was leaning on his Cadillac Escalade which restfully occupied a parking lot of a well-known residential area.

He joined the class of former Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko, and other global leaders who enjoy rides in Cadillac motorcades and a convoy of protective vehicles.

The Escalade Hybrid has a reputation for being bling king with a five-year product cycle that still lives up to its moniker image.

Retailing at Ksh12 million, Mariga spent nearly Ksh10 million more on importation taxes and transportation charges for the car to arrive in Kenya.

Built in Arlington, Texas, Escalade Hybrid epitomises its name which refers to a siege warfare tactic of scaling defensive walls or ramparts with the aid of ladders or siege towers.

Mariga's car uses its extended-length rule the roads at a maximum speed of 260 kilometres per hour -- all powered by a 6.2-litre V-8 making 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque.

The former footballer drives a six-speed automatic car capable of seating up to eight passengers in a leather-filled cabin, depending on the configuration of the interior of the car.

Its rear and all-wheel drive is radiant silver metallic with a crystal red tint coat as an additional new colour.

The centre console of the Cadillac Escalade 2012 was redesigned with a new satin-metal trim piece that offers a promising look and feel.

Mariga is a former Inter Milan midfielder and the first Kenyan footballer to play in the UEFA Champions League.

The Kenyan footballer joined politics in 2019 and vied for Kibera parliamentary seat after the death of the late MP, Ken Okoth. He once again lost in the same race in the August 2022 General Election.

In February 2023, he was among the applicants nominated for the position of Chief Administrative Secretaries.
