Communication strategist, Pauline Njoroge, is among five board of directors of the Tourism Regulatory Authority, whose appointments were revoked by Tourism Cabinet Secretary, Peninah Malonza, on Friday, March 10.
The appointment of Kalonzo's son Kevin Muasya and KTN News Anchor Najma Ismail, who were also part of the board, was also revoked via the notice released the same day.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) (g) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage revokes the appointment of five members," Malonza stated.
The anchor resigned from Standard Group PLC on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Other fired members included Alais Lenana Momoi, and Isaac Muchiri Njangu.
Malonza did not make any immediate appointments to the board, nor explain reasons for releasing the board members, who were mostly allied with President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta.
Pauline also served as a Digital Media Strategist for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition before the August 2022 General Election.
Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala 2021 revoked the appointment of Pauline as a member of the Board of Tourism Regulatory Authority after it emerged that she had criticised the Nairobi National Park in her previous social media posts.
By the time of publishing this article, it was not yet clear whether Balala's directive was effected and the intrigues that led to Malonza issuing a similar order.
"I am revoking Pauline Njoroge's appointment as a board member of Tourism Regulatory Authourity because we have just seen what she had tweeted in the past about Nairobi National Park.
"We do not want to be associated with such people and such thinking," read an excerpt of the statement from Balala.
Pauline was controversially replaced with Journalist Najma Ismail, who Balala stated was fit to sit on the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
Established under section 4 of the Tourism Act No.28 of 2011, Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) is a corporate body charged with regulating the country's tourism sector.
TRA designs and develops regulations, standards and guidelines necessary to ensure an all-around quality service delivery for all stakeholders in the country.
