Demos Over Salaries Leads To Closure of Referral Hospital

A demonstration by over 400 health workers in Mandera County has led to the closure of Mandera County Referal Hospital.

The workers want a salary increment, claiming that no changes in their salaries or promotions have been made since the devolution of health services in the country.

They want the terms of an agreement reached with the Health ministry, following a February strike over unpaid allowances to be met as soon as possible.

The Star Newspaper reports that some nurses were arrested during the demo for allegedly inciting the rest of the workers to strike.
