Drop Karua's Case Against Me, Moses Kuria tells Court

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asked the court to dismiss Martha Karua's defamatory case against him, citing that his remarks could not be justified as injurious.

Kuria through his lawyer Danson Mung'atana, also noted that the court's injunction barring him from talking about the alleged involvement of Karua in the implication of Deputy President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC) was not legitimate.

The legislator insisted that the statements he made at a public rally and later at a press conference were true, and his stand concerning the involvement of Narc-leader in Ruto fixing would not change.

He emphasized that Karua, who was then a senior member of the Party of National Unity (PNU), was actively engaged in negotiations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to calm their supporters during the Post Election Violence.

Earlier this month the High Court ordered the Gatundu South MP to refrain from making statements that connected Karua in Ruto's fixing ploy at the ICC.

In the law suit, Karua was seeking compensation from the legislator for tarnishing her reputation by suggesting that she was an unlawful and untrustworthy public servant when she served as Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and that she was involved in bribing people to testify against the DP.
