EACC Proposes Prosecution Of Ngilu Again

Suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu can not seem to catch a break after the Ethics And Anti Corruption Commission has once again recommended that she be prosecuted over yet another land saga.

This comes days after the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered the closure of her file, agreeing with the EACC that there was no evidence to charge her.

This time, she is facing trouble over her involvement in the Karen land saga which hit headlines months ago after allegations of rampant fraud in the acquisition and transfer of the controversial Sh8 billion Karen land were made.

She has been accused of having knowledge that top government officials, members of parliament, and state public officers benefited from the division of the 134 acre piece of land in Nairobi.

Ngilu, who has been facing one controversy after another is now waiting for the Director of Public Prosecutions to make a decision on whether she will stand trial.

On Wednesday, the EACC presented to Keriako Tobiko a case file recommending the charges following months of investigations.

If charged, Ngilu will be the second CS in the Jubilee government to be charged with corruption related charges.

Transport CS Michael Kamau was charged with abuse of office last week over a road contract. He pleaded not guilty.
