Eng. Kamau Ordered To Appear In Court

Suspended Infrastructure and Transport Cabinet Secretary Eng. Michael Kamau has been summoned to appear in court on Thursday 4.

The court order against Eng. Kamau and two other officers in his ministry has been issued today Tuesday, after Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) arresting officers reported that they could not find the three at their residences, Capital reports.

The three are charged alongside 6 other members of the tendering committee in the ministry who according to The Nation are accused of failing to follow procurement rules in awarding the tender for the Kamukuywa-Kimilili road.

The six committee members who denied the claims before Senior Principal Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi have been released on a Sh600 000 cash bail each with alternative bond of Sh3 million with one surety of similar amount each.

Their case was set for mention on June 16, 2015.

CS Kamau who is accused of colluding with officials of the Kundan Singh Construction Company which is building the Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-Kimilili road to trash the consultant’s design leading to massive embezzlement of public funds.
