Form One Student in Custody For Questioning Over Terror Links

A form one student from Siaya County has been detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over terror attack alert leaflets.

The teenager was arrested Tuesday concerning the leaflets allegedly circulated in different secondary schools in the region over the weekend.

The handwritten leaflets were signed in Arabic.

At this point it, is not clear whether the student was involved with the matter or not, although there are concerns that he might have been radicalized.

Speaking to The Standard, Siaya County Commissioner Caroline Onchoka said the terror alert leaflets have been taken to CID headquarters in Nairobi where handwriting experts have been brought in to establish whether there is a connection between the boy and the letter.

If a connection is found, the boy will be charged in a court of law.

The incident comes in the wake of a wave of fear across the nation over terror, especially after Garissa University College attack which left 148 people dead.

Security forces in the country have however been involved in measures aimed at enhancing security in the country.
