Former Military Officer Mwenda Mbijjiwe Leaves Jubilee for NASA

Former Recce Squad Commando Mwenda Mbijjiwe has ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party and joined the National Super Alliance (NASA) led by Raila Odinga.

The former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer decamped to the opposition with the hope of getting a party ticket to run for the Meru Governor's seat in the August poll.

Mbijjiwe accused Jubilee of unfairness alleging that residents of Meru County are not pleased with the current government.

He claimed that running for governor under Jubilee might cause him to loose the seat.

"I have listened to the people's voices and it is clear they are gravitating towards the opposition," the security expert was quoted by the Standard.

Mbijjiwe, however, did not reveal which party in NASA he would be joining.

Politicians eyeing Meru County’s governor seat include incumbent Peter Munya, Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi, the President's on education matters Kilemi Mwiria and 2013 presidential running mate Winnie Kaburu.
