Government Issues Regulations Over Plane Hijack Fears

The government has reportedly introduced new regulations for aircrafts flying from the Wilson and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Somalia.

The new regulations are said to have been triggered by reports that a suspected suicide bomber and pilot from Egypt had sneaked into the country and travelled into Somalia.

The pilot and suspected suicide bomber, allegedly intend to hijack a plane from the Wiloson Airport and use it for a terror attack, The Star reports.

According to Wilson Airport Aircraft Operators Committee chairman Captain Gad Kamau, they are now required to get clearance from the Interior ministry as opposed to Foreign Affairs ministry.

An aviation operator based at Wilson Airport speaks to The Star of how he spent a night at the Interior Ministry parking lot begging for clearance after being temporarily denied clearance.
