Governor Freezes January Salaries of County Workers

Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani has directed the county's Public Service board to withhold January salaries of workers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in North Horr Sub-County citing non-performance by the employees.

Yatani issued a strong warning to the county staff asserting that his government would not put up with lazy and incompetent employees.

The Governor also addressed absenteeism from work, promising to discipline errant employees.

“I have noted with concern that some people don’t want to work in some places. You will be shown the door,” Yatani was quoted by the Nation.

Speaking during the signing of performance contracts, Yatani indicated that his county was committed to integrity and accountability of workers.
