Popular television show host Jeff Koinange was reportedly robbed on Thursday morning after burglars raided and gained access to his home.
The attack happened around 2.30am at his home in Nairobi's posh Kitisuru estate where the robbers shot in the air to scare away security guards in the area.
Confirming the incident Nairobi Criminal Investigation Department boss Ireri Kamwende stated: "The armed men came in through a gate leading to the river, shot in the air, beat up and tied the watchman,in his Kitusuru home".
The unknown number of thugs who were armed with crude weapons and guns are said to have made away with several electronics including computers.
Koinange, well known for his programme Jeff Koinange Live (JKL), was inside the house when the burglary took place but escaped unharmed.
The CID boss assured that detectives had launched investigations into the break-in.
The veteran journalist affirmed that he was safe stating: "Thank you very much for your concerns & prayers. My family & I are safe. The police are handling the situation. Asanteni Sana (Thank you very much)".
