Jicho Pevu's Mohammed Ali in Trouble with Nkaissery

Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has demanded an immediate apology from Jicho Pevu's investigative journalist Mohammed Ali and his counterpart Yassin Juma, for misleading information they relayed regarding Mandera mass grave or face dire consequences.

Speaking during a press briefing, Nkaissery dismissed the existence of any mass grave in Mandera or anywhere in the country after an excavation was carried out in the area.

The CS accused Ali for not being patriotic to his country adding that he had constantly put the security of Kenya at a risk.

“This young man called Mohammed Ali has had a habit of permanently putting the security organ of the country in the space of Al-Shabaab. He has been putting the security agencies in the negative and putting Al-Shabaab in the positive. It is wrong. That is unpatriotic,” Nkaissery stated.

Ali was at the forefront to report about the mass graves that supposedly 12 bodies were found buried. He posted a gruesome photo of the body of a woman identified as Isnina Mohammed, which was found buried in one of the alleged mass graves.

The Interior CS alleged that the woman was a cook for the Al Shabaab at Bulla Hawa, where they were routed by Amisom and the Somali National Army before fleeing into Kenya and started selling tea at a kiosk in Mandera.

“We believe she was an Al Shabaab sympathizer. We don't know (who killed her), maybe Al Shabaab,” he said.

CS Nkaiserry also demanded an apology from Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow within 24 hours, failure to which he would face stern action. Kerrow had linked Kenya's security agencies to extrajudicial killings in the county.
