Kibaki Accuses Opposition of Derailing Development in the Country

Former President Mwai Kibaki has accused the opposition of derailing the governments’ development agenda by continuously critiquing the government.

Kibaki said the opposition’s criticism of the Jubilee administration was getting in the way of the government's efforts in trying to develop the nation.

He was speaking at the Starehe Boys Centre during the Founder’s Day celebration in Nairobi.

Kibaki has been the institution’s patron since 1969.

He advised President Kenyatta, who was also in attendance to ignore the critics and instead focus on making the lives of Kenyans better.

The event was also graced by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Peter Kenneth, Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and other high profile guests.

During the ceremony, Kenyatta lauded the school for its continuous success through the years.

Lightening the mood, the President once again made fun of Kidero’s grass.

He joked that Governor Kidero had told him that the grass was planted in preparation of the arrival of the pope and that it will have grown by the time he arrived.

Kaimenyi on his part said he was immensely impressed with the day’s entertainment by the students, reiterating the importance of extra-curricular activities in schools.
