Kisumu County Assembly On The Spot As Assembly Bosses Get Arrested

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission detectives have arrested Kisumu County Assembly Speaker, the Minority Leader and the Assembly Clerk.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Anne Adul, Minority leader Eddy Anayo and Clerk Nelco Sagwe were Monday morning arrested after EACC detectives raided their homes.

The three including suspended Majority Leader Samuel Ong’ow who escaped arrest are accused of influencing tendering processes and getting kickbacks from contractors the Daily Nation reports.

They are set to face interrogations before being arraigned in court.

Adul has been embroiled in battles with the county assembly members over claims of abuse of office in which she is accused of embezzling funds while chairing the assembly’s public service board together with Mr Ong’ow, Mr Anayo and Mr Sagwe.

Kisumu Members of County Assembly successfully voted to have her impeached in October 2014, but she was later reinstated by the court.
