A man has been sentenced to death for killing his grandmother over food.
The accused, Gordon Odhiambo is said to have attacked his grandmother on September 27, 2011 at Rachuonyo, Homa Bay.
The court heard from one witness that Odhiambo had threatened to kill his grandmother if she denied him food before and true to his word, he committed the act on the fateful day.
The medical doctor who examined the deceased reported that she had died from serious injuries sustained on the head and neck.
According to The Standard, 11 witnesses testified during the case, all giving consistent testimonies.
Justice David Majanja sentenced Odhiambo to hanging and gave him 14 days to appeal.
