MCA Arrested Over Stolen Cars

A Member of County Assembly in Mombasa was arrested on Friday for allegedly obtaining two vehicles through forgery.

Kongowea MCA Jabez Muthai was taken into police custody after the owner of the vehicles, a German National, emerged accusing Mr Muthai of acquiring the vehicles through forged documents.

In his defence, the County Legislator insisted that he only took possession of the two vehicles after the German national failed to clear a debt of Sh1.8 Million that he borrowed from him.

Kisauni Deputy OCPD Tom Abondo confirmed that the MCA was arrested at his King’orani residence and was being held for questioning.

This comes after a Kenyan was sentenced to four years in prison after a British court found him guilty of handling stolen vehicles.

Kennedy Ruto, was linked to stolen cars destined for Africa -  a Ford Focus valued at, Sh458, 646 and a Range Rover worth Sh11,007,519.
