Moses Kuria Wants Raila Hanged for Treason

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria threatened to sue Opposition leader Raila Odinga for treason following the protests for the disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Kuria took to his Facebook page on Wednesday night to announce the decision saying:

"Dear Kenyans. Please let us meet tomorrow Thursday 28th April 2016 at 11am at Milimani courts as we charge Raila Odinga with treason for subverting the constitution. Remember the penalty for treason if found guilty is death by hanging untill one is certified dead by a qualified medical doctor [sic]".

On Thursday, however, Kuria teamed up with  Kabete MP Ferdinand WaitituDagoretti South lawmaker Dennis WaweruKimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu) and Alice Ng'ang'a (Thika Town) seeking to stop the protests by CORD leaders.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, Kuria confirmed that they had indeed gone to court where they filed a case to stop CORD from protesting over IEBC.

He said they would be returning to court on Friday where Raila, Wetangula and Kalonzo have been summoned to appear.

The former Prime Minister and his CORD co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday led their supporters in attempting to forcefully access the IEBC offices at Anniversary Towers, Nairobi.

The protesters caused chaos in the Central Business District (CBD) forcing police to use teargas on the protesters, forcing the crowd to scamper for safety.

The Opposition has maintained that it will not go into the next election with the current IEBC and have accused the commission of colluding with Jubilee to rig the upcoming General Election.

CORD was also frustrated by the electoral body after it rejected its Okoa Kenya Initiative for failure to meet the one million constitutional threshold for signatures.
