MP 'Cries' After Missing Free Helicopter Ride

A Member of Parliament (MP) cried foul after missing a free helicopter ride during a tour of the Meru County on Friday.

Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti, was a bitter man after Meru Governor Peter Munya flew away in a helicopter leaving him and his entourage stranded and devastated.

“He should have included us in the helicopter tour. We have seen many choppers,” lamented Mwiti.

The lawmaker was getting ready to join Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Governor Munya, when the latter hurriedly left the scene with the CS.

The MP had arrived at Gakoromone in Meru town with an entourage that included various county leaders including Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi and Woman Representative Florence Kajuju among others.

The legislators arrived late at the event where CS Wamalwa was the main guest, since they had to travel by road.

Buuri MP Gatobu Kinoti at one point was forced to walk for kilometres, as the Governor's chopper had landed on the road blocking vehicles heading to the meeting.

The area leaders are said to have attempted to control the CS's program, before Munya allegedly rushed in with a chopper without the knowledge of Kiraitu and his crew. Governor Munya and CS Wamalwa embarked on a tour in several areas within the region.
