MP to Move to Court Over El Nino

Member of Parliament for Narok-East , Lemanken Aramat, has vowed to move to court over the highly predicted El Nino rains.

The lawmaker is set to sue the Kenya Meteorological Services should the rains fail to pour by the end of October as foreseen.

Speaking on Tuesday during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Maasai Mara University, the legislator accused the meteorological department of misleading Kenyans.

"It has been three years now the meteorological department has been lying to us that there will be heavy rains. Now, farmers have borrowed loans to prepare their lands, they have bought inputs and some have bought livestock. Who will refund them the money should it not rain," he stated.

Aramarat's sentiments came amid heightened activities in preparation for the disastrous rains.

Other leaders have since warned Kenyans not to ignore the rains but take the necessary precautions to avert any dire consequences.

The weatherman cautioned that the heavy rains would begin from October and persist till December.
