Multi-billion Homes Face Demolition As NLC Moves To Restore Grabbed Land In Nairobi

The National Land Commission (NLC) is today Monday set to intensify its crackdown on illegally acquired public land.

The commission will be moving to restore parts of the City and Wakulima markets along Landhies Road in Nairobi which were allegedly grabbed, as well as the sites of sewerage plants in Ruai and Kiambu.

Also on the NLC watch are 10 beach homes at the Coast that sit on islands which according to the Kenya Maritime Authority are on the navigational path for ships.

While giving a status report at the end of a three-day consultative meeting for Lands officials in Nairobi, over the weekend, NLC Chairman Muhammad Swazuri highlighted that the commission will be heading to Meru County on May 17 before proceeding to Kilifi to survey and issue title deeds as well as evict people living on grabbed public land.
