Ngilu's Case Sent to the Chief Justice

The Karen Land Saga case against suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has reportedly handed over to the Chief Justice.

Chief Justice Willly Mutunga is expected to appoint a panel of judges to hear the case against Ngilu, the Nation reports.

The suspended lands CS argues that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is not properly constituted to conduct investigations and make recommendations.

According to Ngilu, the commission is not legally constituted since it lacks the requisite number of commissioners.

She further claims that the decision to charge her was influenced by a presidential directive.

The CS alongside seven other Lands ministry officials. have sued the EACC, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Milimani Chief Magistrate.

Ngilu last month lost in a bid seeking to be charged separately from the other land officials in the Karen land scandal.

She is accused of obstructing investigations into the Karen land saga by directing ministry officials not to release documents to EACC investigators or even record any statements regarding the land.

Ngilu, however, denies the charges.
