Six Members of Parliament of the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) on Saturday turned up for the prayer meeting organised by jubilee leaders, despite their counterparts having a parallel rally at Kibera.
The Opposition MPs, James Rege of Karachuonyo, Kisumu Central's Ken Obura, Gideon Mung'aro (Kilifi North), Mustapha Idi (Kilifi South), Steven Kariuki (Mathare) and Ms Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale) snubbed the Kibera meeting which was meant “to push for justice for post-election violence victims”, to join jubilee leaders at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
The Nakuru thanksgiving service was organised following the termination of case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang.
Rege and Obura have in the past been branded ODM rebels following their close relationship with the government of the day. On the other hand, MPs Kariuki and Munga'ro have openly been showing their shift of allegiance, with the latter declaring his support for the Jubilee coalition during the Malindi by-election.
Their party leader, Raila Odinga, on Friday criticised the Afraha meeting, saying it was a mockery of the dead and survivors of the 2007/08 post election violence.
Meanwhile, the CORD rally at Kibera went on without Principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.
Odinga and Kalonzo were both in Europe on separate visits while Wetangula was in Kakamega, where he was reportedly holding campaigns alongside Amani Coalition’s Musalia Mudavadi.
