PHOTOS: Deputy Governor Left Begging as Office Demolished

Murang'a Deputy Governor Gakure Monyo, was left helpless after his office was demolished and vandalised by unknown persons early Monday morning.

Mr Monyo was left in turmoil with an office full of debris and broken furniture, and moments later his official vehicle confiscated and taken to Nairobi by armed police officers from the Government Vehicles Control Unit (GVCU).

The Deputy Governor, who had to beg the officers for a lift to follow up on the matter, said he did not have any other means of transport.

Mr Monyo attributed the source of his problems to the current political upheaval in the County, owing to the botched attempt to remove Governor Mwangi wa Iria from office.

Members of the Muranga County Assembly accused the Deputy Governor of allegedly bribing them to support the impeachment motion of the Governor, which successfully went through, until it was overturned by the Senate on Friday.

“Why would you imagine that your Deputy is trying to impeach you? What is wrong? Why can't we get into a proper working relationship?,” said Mr Monyo.

Speaking to K24, the Deputy Governor said that the demolition would not push him out of office instead he would serve the people normally.
