PHOTOS: Did PM Netanyahu 'Force' Kidero to Walk 4KM?

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Tuesday seemingly felt the pinch of closed roads following the state visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Kidero purported to have been forced to abandon his motorcade and walk from the Central Business Centre (CBD) to Yaya Centre following a thick traffic snarl up.

"Malfunctioning AC plus heavy traffic @county_nairobi roads. Walking from CBD to Yaya Centre is the only way out, [sic]" the Governor posted.

In photos posted online, the Governor is seen accompanied by other County officials in the 4-Kilometer walk.

Kidero was among Nairobi residents who woke up on Tuesday to major traffic snarl-ups on several roads in the city, with many complaining about the lack of prior warning.

County Commander Japheth Koome warned that several roads in the Capital would be closed during Netanyahu's three-day visit.

Koome said that Chiromo Road between Westlands and Museum Hill would remain closed the whole of Tuesday.

Vehicles from the Central Business District (CBD) to Westlands, however, will not be affected. Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue, Parliament Road, Wabera Street will be closed later on in the day.

"At some stage, Kenyatta Avenue and State House Avenue will also be closed," Mr Koome said.

Koome indicated that Lang'ata road will also be affected temporarily.
