Pokot and Turkana Communities Refuse to Bury Nadome Victims

Turkana and Pokot communities in Nadome have vowed not to bury their relatives who were killed in fights that erupted last week in the area.

The valley of death- as Nadome has come to be known, still has the bodies of those who died lying where they were slain.

The strange practice, locals say is based o the belief that the spirits of those killed will haunt their killers until they give themselves up.

Red Cross and government officials were forced to leave the bodies decomposing at the site, as none of the locals were willing to even touch them.

Speaking to The Standard, Assistant Deputy IG Administration Police Peter Pamba said the county government would conduct the burials for the victims.

Families continue the mourning process, as per the two communities' customs.
