Police Officers Face Murder Charges

Two police officers could face time behind bars, after allegedly killing an AP officer last year.

This follows a recommendation by Independent Policing Oversight Committee (IPOA) to raise murder charges against the two officers from Kabete Police Station for allegedly shooting Joseph Obongo and two of his relatives.

The incident is said to have taken place at Kangemi in October 2014.

According to investigations by IPOA, the late Obongo was killed alongside his kin, Geoffrey Migoi and Amos Okenye outside a pub.

The two officers who shot the trio however insist that the deceased were suspects in a robbery attempt.

The Director of Prosecutions office has concurred with IPOA's recommendation. Consequently, the two officers will be charged with three counts of murder.
