Raila Odinga Finally Announces His Political Future

CORD leader Raila Odinga has finally come clear about his political future with regards to whether he would participate in 2017 General Election.

Raila who was speaking in Kakamega county announced that he was not about to hang his political boots any time soon dismissing critics who were urging him to quit politics.

The former Prime Minister was responding to a research carried out by Ipsos Synovate which indicated that 56% of Kenyans wanted him to retire from politics and to cease from contesting for Presidential seat.

However, Odinga dismissed the survey claiming that it was meant to benefit the Jubilee government and that it was only carried out in the region where the government enjoyed majority support.

“Niliwaambia wale watu wa Synovate wanaenda kuuliza watu wa Jubilee kama wanataka Raila asimame. Watu wa Jubilee hawawezi kutaka Raila asimame. Mimi nasema tutaenda na Uhuru kwa debe (These researchers from Synovate only ask Jubilee members whether they want Raila to vie. Of course Jubilee supporters cannot support my candidature. I am declaring that I will compete against Uhuru for the Presidential position),” he said.

Raila also advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip starting from those closest to him if at all he was honest about eradicating corruption menace.

He further down played recent decamping of some Opposition leaders to join the ruling faction accusing them of being bribed to jump the ship.

This follows a move by 16 leaders from Western region who defected to Jubilee pledging their support for the government.

Five more Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Members of Parliament have also vowed to join the recently formed Jubilee Party as their new political tool during 2017 election.
