Rapper Nonini Comes to the Rescue of Mandera Bus Attack Hero

Kenya musician Robert Nakitare, better known as Nonini together with other celebrities are set to hold a charity event with the aim of raising funds for Mandera bus attack hero, Abdirashid Adan.

According to Nonini, the Entertainment with Fun for Charity (EFC) Basketball Tournament to be held next week Saturday is meant to help Abdirashid cater for some of his medical expenses.

The celebrated artiste said that the victim was still recovering and that the money to be raised would facilitate his visits to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for dressing.

“We want to help him in whichever way we can, even if it means starting a small business to get his livelihood back,” Nonini is quoted by Nation.

Early June, the plight of Abdirashid was aired through the media after the government allegedly failed to pay his medical expenses as promised by Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu.

By June 6, Abdirashid had accumulated a bill of over Sh1.5 Million at the KNH and the government had not given any word regarding the promise of catering for his medical expenses.

It is reported that Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko intervened and his bill was cleared.

Abdirashid, sustained abdomen gunshot wounds during the December attack that left two people dead.

Together with Salah Farah (deceased), they shielded Christians aboard the bus from being massacred by Al-Shabaab militants during the ambush.
