Ruto Hits Out At The Opposition For Trying To 'Divide' East Africans

Efforts by the Ugandan opposition to gain insight from the Coalitions for Reforms and Democracy(CORD) as to how to win the upcoming elections have been termed as disuniting politics.

Speaking at the 53rd Uganda  Independence Day Celebrations in Uganda, Deputy President William Ruto alleged that Uganda's opposition leaders were having a sit down with people who have a problem with unity which was against the regions plans of being a united front.

Ruto criticized the delegation for choosing the losing team to advise them on how to win the upcoming elections.“They did not engage those who won the elections, they engaged those who lost the elections,”said Ruto.

The DP added that the Jubilee Government shared the vision of  National Resistance Movement (NRM) which is Uganda's national party as it was focused on uniting people and development

Deputy President William Ruto also asked leaders in East African region to avoid politics that caused division.“It is time leaders in the EAC region discourage politics based on race, religion or region,” said Mr Ruto.

The delegation of opposition leaders were in the Kenya  October 4 and they met with the CORD leader Raila Odinga  to discuss how to chose one person to vie in the  2016 general elections against Museveni.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Ugandan Counter part Yoweri Museveni recently agreed on various measures that would see  both countries working together.This move by the two heads of state was aimed at improving trade and regional intergration between Kenya and Uganda.
