Is Sonko Dropping out of Governorship Race?

Nairobi Senator Gideon Mbuvi Kioko commonly known as Mike Sonko on Tuesday declared that he would support The National Alliance (TNA) Chairman Johnson Sakaja for the highly contested Nairobi Gubenatorial seat in 2017.

The Senator endorsed Mr Sakaja on a tweet after a supporter confirmed him to be a better man for the job.

“It is the dream of every Nairobian to see their County get better and @SakajaJohnson is the man for the job,” read the tweet.

Mr Sakaja, however, laughed it off and said that he would rather run for a seat upcountry instead.

The informal endorsement cast doubts on whether Mr Mbuvi would be running for the Governorship seat, despite having declared a while back that he would “wrestle” incumbent Governor Dr Evans Kidero for the Capital's highest job.

Sonko is said to have laid back in political matters with the latest turn of events being the disbandment of the Sonko Rescue Team, in a show of respect for Dr Kidero whom he said had supported him immensely when his father died.
