Tragedy Faces Mau Evictees As One Child Dies, 3 Others Hospitalized

One child has died of pneumonia while three others are in critical condition at Kipchoge makeshift camp, Narok South constituency.

The child’s family is part of hundreds of families evicted from the Mau forest by Kenya Forest Service rangers last week and are currently living in the camps.

The child's father, Augustine Kirui says the six month old baby could not withstand the cold weather at the makeshift camps.

According to The Star Newspaper, three other children are also suffering of pneumonia and are being treated at a nearby dispensary.

The families have criticized the government of evicting them in an inhumane manner and now want to be relocated as soon as possible.
