University Student To Be Detained For 7 More Days Over False Terror Alert

A court in Narok has ruled that the police continue holding in custody, a 22-year-old student who was arrested for posting fake terror alerts on Facebook.

The investigating team had asked for 14 more days for investigations but the court granted them one week.

The suspect, Isaac Magere had allegedly put up a post via his Facebook account on 16th May claiming that Maasai Mara University would be attacked by terrorists on the opening date, 25th of May.

He was arrested on 23rd May.

The second year student at the said university however maintains that he is not guilty as his account was hacked by unknown persons.

According to The Star, CID officer Ronald Chemosit who is investigating the matter said Magere is likely to be charged under the Terrorism Act.

Investigations into the matter continue as the case is set to be mentioned on June 2nd.
