VIDEO: Bodies of KDF Heroes Arrive

Four bodies of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers who were killed during a deadly Al Shabaab attack in Somalia arrived at Wilson Airport on Monday night.

The four were received by Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe accompanied by Kenya Air Force Commander Samuel Thuita and other top military officials.

This was followed by a short service led by religious leaders from the military wing who described the moment as devastating.

"There is devastation in our hearts when we think about the pain the fallen heroes must have gone through as they faced death in the face," said Major Reverend Habil Nakhumwa while presiding over the event.

The CS called for patience from Kenyans, saying a search and rescue operation is ongoing and more soldiers and bodies are expected to be flown into the country in the course of the week.

“We have received four bodies of our heroes and the operation is ongoing, we will update Kenyans on any development we have,” Omamo said.
