VIDEO: Kidero Reveals How City Hall Cartels Operate

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has revealed how cartels have been operating at City Hall mentioning two rooms where corrupt deals are negotiated and sealed.

In a video clip, Kidero said that his government had been surrounded by cartels especially in the environment and land sectors, making it difficulty for operations to run smoothly.

He went ahead to say that two restaurants at City Hall, was where individuals working for the cartels pitch tent waiting to take advantage of anyone visiting the County headquarters regarding land issues.

“Ukikuja City Hall there are some two restaurants pale zimejaa na wote ni macartels wa mashamba (When you visit City Hall, there are some two restaurants full of land cartels),” he said.

The Governor identified room 10 and 500 where all corrupt dealings in the land department went down.

He exposed how phoney individuals camped at the Hall to spy on those being paid by the County Government through cheques. Kidero said that the culprits would then follow the victim to the mentioned rooms to solicit for bribe.

In the video, the County boss said he had ordered for the closure of the two rooms as a show of commitment in his spirited effort to fight the cartels.

Kidero said this just days before sacking the County Executive in charge of Environment, Water, Energy and Natural resources Evans Ondieki.

In the dismissal letter, Kidero confirmed that Ondieki had ceased to be an employee of the county government and had been replaced by Tom Odongo, the County Executive for Urban Renewal and Housing in an acting capacity.
