VIDEO: More Heroin with High Street Value Found in Malindi

Police on Monday discovered 32 sachets of heroin hidden inside a coconut tree in Mwembe Tayari, Kilifi County .

The search was led by Malindi Deputy County Commissioner Gideon Ombong'i, OCPD Matawa Muchangi, Malindi DCIO Paul Wachira and other security officers.

A woman said to be behind the contraband was arrested after a sniffer dog helped discover the heroin with a street value of Sh79,000.

The search included breaking down doors in order to access locked rooms in the woman's home.

During the search police found about Sh400,000 in different denominations wrapped in plastic bags hidden in the ceiling in one of the rooms.

Security agents said that they had also recovered sacks of bhang at Lango Bay, 40 kilometres away from Malindi town.

The police are working closely with the people of the area to free the area from drugs.

Other notorious spots include Shella, Kisumu Ndogo, Lango Mbaya, Kwa Chocha, Maweni, Takaye, Kwa Ndomo, Mutangani, Ganda, Gede, Watamu, Msabaha, Kijiwe Tanga, Muyeye, Maweni and Kakuyuni.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a crackdown on the drug menace in the Coast last week.
