VIDEO: Raila Campaigns Through Phone Call

As campaigns ahead of the Malindi parliamentary by-election continue to heat up, the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) seems not to leave any loose ends in its efforts to drum up support for its candidate Willy Mtengo.

Pulling a rare stunt, CORD leader Raila Odinga addressed a gathering in Malindi via a cell phone after he was unable to join Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho during one of the campaign meetings in the area.

During the meeting with area teachers, Joho called the former Prime Minister using his phone then set it on loud speaker for him to speak to the gathering.

Addressing the crowd, Odinga pledged his support to the tutors, urging them to rally behind Mtengo for the Malindi seat.

Leaders from both CORD and Jubilee coalitions have been pitching camp in Malindi, conducting aggressive campaigns in a bid to secure the seat that fell vacant after former MP Dan Kazungu was appointed to cabinet.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has been camping the area, actively campaigning for their Jubilee candidate Philip Charo.
