Waiguru Finally Confirms Vying for Nairobi Governorship

Former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has finally declared that she will be contesting for the Nairobi's gubernatorial seat in the next General Election.

Waiguru made the announcement on Monday after a Jubilee meeting at La Mada Hotel along Thika Road. She stated that she would go against Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on a Jubilee party ticket come 2017.

"I am declaring that I will contest for Jubilee ticket to run for Nairobi governorship. I have grassroots support and I know I will deliver," Waiguru stated.

The former CS further indicated that she was ready to compete with her opponents asserting that, 'I know I am able and I can deliver'.

TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja also confirmed that he would be going for the top seat in the county.

"I'm running for Nairobi Governor seat. Kindly treat this as not being a rumour and hopefully my running mate will be from Central Kenya."

The Governor's seat has attracted interest from several politicians including the County's Senator Mike Sonko, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, former advisor to Raila OdingaMiguna Miguna, among others.

Early this month, Ms Waiguru admitted to consulting President Kenyatta in her bid to seek an elective position in next year's elections.
