Waiguru Under Pressure As More Jubilee MPs Join Opposition Call

More Legislators affiliated to the Jubilee coalition have joined the call by Opposition leaders to ouster Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru

Speaking at a burial in Moiben constituency on Sunday the MPs; Silas Tiren (Moiben), William Kisang (Marakwet West), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), Jackson Kiptanui (Keiyo South) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), said in one accord, that corruption was ruining the Government's image.

The law makers threatened that business at the Jubilee camp would be distorted if Waiguru did not resign over the corruption claims associated with her, adding that they would file an impeachment motion when Parliament resumes.

"What we are witnessing is rampant cases of corruption involving highly-placed Government officials. The National Youth Service (NYS) saga is a pure act of sacrificing junior officers but not the big fish and we want Waiguru and her principal secretary to step aside," said Sudi.

The group of Jubilee MPs from the North Rift region stated that Waiguru ought to follow the example of her colleagues who left office to pave away for investigations.

Cabinet Secretaries Charity Ngilu (Lands), Davis Chirchir (Energy), Felix Koskei (Agriculture), Kazungu Kambi (Labour) and Michael Kamau (Roads) were suspended after being named in a list of shame presented to parliament by the President. All are yet to resume office even after Chichir was cleared of the accusations.

Waiguru has been under immense pressure to resign after Sh791 Million was allegedly lost in graft at the NYS which falls under her docket.

Two weeks ago two other United Republican Party legislators, Alfred Keter and Ronald Tonui also demanded for CS Waiguru's suspension, failure to which she would face impeachment.

Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta saying that he was not upholding impartiality in the fight against corruption

“It’s unfair for the President to claim he is upholding the spirit of the constitution and fighting graft yet he favours some who have been implicated in corruption,” said Keter.
