This is What Kenya Power Said On Parliament Disconnection

Kenya Power has apologised to Parliament for disconnecting electricity on October 2 affecting operations in both the National Assembly and the Senate.

Through Sunday advertisement on the Dailies, the company said that it regretted the disconnection, citing that their was a systems error which inadvertently affected remittance of electricity bills in October.

The company also apologised to other affected institutions and individual account holders.

However, Kenya Power's explanation for the disconnection contradicts the events of last week when it was said that the power cut was due to unsettled dues.

Members of Parliament even blamed the National Treasury for delaying in disbursing funds to the National Assembly. Speaker Justin Muturi confirmed on Monday that they held crisis talks with the Treasury concerning the matter.

The issue was later resolved on Monday after Head of Civil Service Joseph Kinyua intervened.
