A police inspector found himself on the wrong side of the law, that he swore to protect and enforce.

Inspector Hussein Abdulahi was arrested in Sega, Siaya County while enjoying himself inside a bar drinking, during curfew hours instead of enforcing curfew directives.

"The officer was found smack in the middle of a night out with several local residents at the Leonardo Bar at around 8.30 pm by Ugenya sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigations team led by Corporal Martin Wanyonyi,'' said Ukwala OCS Timothy Kwemoi while speaking to Citizen Digital.

Drama ensued between the police inspector and his fellow colleagues who demanded to know why the bar was still open past the stipulated curfew time.

Inspector Hussein is said to have brandished his pistol while threatening and shouting at his colleagues, who were trying to arrest him.

The detectives who were trying to enforce the arrest called the area OCS who came in with three more detectives, overpowered and arrested the intoxicated inspector.

Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli confirmed the arrest on call but refused to comment further on the matter.

The officer is set to be arraigned in court to face charges.

The government gave out a directive that all businesses close early as to enable enforcement of a curfew to curb the spread of coronavirus.
