Kenya's Covid-19 cases rose to 13,353 on Sunday, July 19, after 603 individuals tested positive over the preceding 24 hours.
In a press statement sent out by the Ministry of Health, CS Mutahi Kagwe urged Kenyans to strictly adhere to the stipulated measures to curb the spread of the virus.
A total of 5,724 samples was tested in the same period of time bringing a cumulative figure of 243,887 of tests done so far.
Out of the 603 cases, 361 were male with 242 being female. The youngest was a seven-month-old infant, while the oldest was identified as an86-year-old.
An additional 682 people were discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,122
Sadly the death toll rose to 234, after 9 more patients succumbed to the virus.
CS Kagwe further revealed that of the 682 recoveries, 562 were under the home-based care program, with the other 120 discharged from various hospitals.
The 603 cases are distributed in counties as follows: Nairobi 441, Kiambu 44, Mombasa 22, Nakuru 17, Kilifi 10, Machakos 6, Kisii 6, Makueni 5, Murang'a 3, Nyeri 2, Kakamega 1, Kericho 1, Kisumu 1, Kwale 1, Lamu 1, narok 1, Tharaka Nithi 1, and Uasin Gishu 1.
In the Nairobi Sub-counties, the cases were distributed as follows; Lang'ata and Westlands 43 each, Dagoretti North 34, Kibra and Ruaraka 33 cases each, Embakasi East 28, Makadara 26, Roysambu 25, Embakasi South, Embakasi West and Kasarani 23 cases each, Embakasi North 21, Kamukunji 20, Dagoretti South 15, Embakasi Central 9 and Mathare 4.
In Kiambu Sub-counties, the cases were distributed as follows; Kikuyu, Ruiru and Thika with 10 case each, Kabete and Kiambu Town 4 cases each, Juja and Kiambaa with 2 cases each.
Down at the Kenyan coast, the 22 cases in Mombasa were distributed as follows; Mvita 11, Jomvu, 4, Changamwe 3, Likoni and Nyali with 2 cases each.
