Martha Karua Asks Court to Nullify Entire August 8 General Election

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has requested the court to cancel the entire August 8 General Election.

In a case filed at the Kirinyaga High Court, Karua argued that the Supreme Court decision to nullify the presidential election meant the whole process was flawed.

Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Karua, who unsuccessfully vied for Kirinyaga governorship, stated that the lower courts were bound by the Supreme Court decision.

She maintained that the election was conducted as one entity, therefore, the nullification of the presidential one meant that results for the other five positions should also be cancelled.

Karua asked the matter to be directed to Chief Justice David Maraga so that he can constitute a three-judge bench to hear the case.

The case, which was filed under a certificate of urgency, will now be heard on September 18.

Last week, the former gubernatorial candidate took to the court to challenge the election of Anne Waiguru as Kirinyaga Governor.

During the mention of the application, she argued that there was no need to proceed with the case since the High Court had to abide by the Supreme Court ruling.

After challenging the governorship results, Waiguru accused her of secretly working with the National Super Alliance (NASA) to derail the Jubilee Party agenda.

Ms Waiguru justified her statement by pointing out that Ms Karua's petition is a duplicate of what NASA leader Raila Odinga filed to challenge Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in the August 8 presidential election.

The Kirinyaga Governor further indicated that Ms Karua's celebration of the September 1st Supreme Court verdict proved that the NARC-Kenya leader was one of the NASA agents pretending to support President Kenyatta.
