DP Ruto Recounts Starting a Family With Rachel in Dagoretti

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday recounted how he started a family with his wife Rachel Chebet Ruto.

Speaking during a church service, the DP told the congregants that in his early years in Nairobi city, he used to live Ngando area, Dagoretti South Constituency.

"Nilikua nalipa rent Ksh 1,750. Nakumbuka mama mwenye alikua na estate hapo, alikua mama mzuri (I used to rent our house at Ksh 1,750. I still remember our landlady. She was a nice woman)," Ruto remarked.

He further indicated that should he get time in the future, he will be glad to pay a visit to the landlady's family given that she is deceased. 

Ruto further indicated that prior to marrying Rachel in 1991, she used to court her in Dagoretti  town.

"Ata mke wangu Rachel, wakati tulikua nazungumza na yeye, nilikua namleta hapa Dagoretti (Even when I was courting my wife Rachel, I used to bring her out here in Dagoretti)," he added.

The DP went on to reminisce about his special ties with Dagoretti and why the area was special to him.

Taking the faithfuls at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) Riruta back in time, Ruto termed Dagoretti as "The place where it all began".

Ruto who celebrated 27 years of marriage on December 21, 2018 further indicated that they equally had their first child while living in the same area.

"Thank you Dagoretti residents for your warm reception and hospitality. Let's continue to live as one by furthering the bonds of friendship and oneness," Ruto tweeted after the visit.

The Kapsabet Boys High School alumni studied BSc (Botany and Zoology) at the University of Nairobi graduating in 1990 and served as an evangelist during his school days.
