A Kitui County official Benjamin Muema Kinyali has been murdered and his burnt body dumped in a thicket.
According to Daily Nation, the body of Kinyali alias Benja was found at a forest near Kwa Vonza, 25 kilometers from Kitui town.
Until his demise, Kinyali was an official with National Youth Council in Kitui County.
Reports by Radio Maisha indicate that police have arrested and are interrogating seven suspects in connection to the murder.
The former procurement officer and a JKUAT alumni has reportedly been an ardent supporter of Kitui Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu.
Kitui County National Youth Council (NYC) Chairman Aggrey Nzomo sent his condolences terming the deceased as "a youth leader with outstanding leadership qualities".
"He was a hardworking youth whose generosity and integrity will remain as his key definition.
"His untimely departure leaves behind an emotionally and psychologically disturbed youth fraternity, friends and family," Nzomo noted.
The Kitui County NYC Chairman further called upon the government agencies to expedite investigations into the cause of his brutal death.
"We pray that justice will be served to the family and friends" Nzomo added.
