A Bungoma-based musician identified as Peter Ochieng alias Storm and popularly known for his song Brikicho was found murdered along the Kanduyi Road.

The musician was also serving as the Communications Assistant for Kanduyi Member of Parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi, whose phone was off by the time of going to press.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Saturday, August 7, Bungoma Sub County Commander, Benjamin Kiwele, confirmed the death of the musician.

The police boss stated that Ochieng's body had multiple cuts and was dumped near a popular bar along the Kanduyi road.

According to Kimwele, the police are following a promising lead after they received reports that the musician boarded a boda boda on his way home only to be found dead later.

The police further noted that they were in possession of text messages from mobile phone service providers with details of the person who is said to have paid the transport cost for the musician as well as those of the boda boda rider.

"We are following leads from the person who paid for his boda boda. He has the mobile money payment number he sent the money to and investigations are now ongoing," the Sub County Commander stated.

His death comes barely a month after the mysterious death of yet another musician, Irungu Wanjaro, whose family has continuously dismissed suicide claims.

Njaro went missing on July 14 after he sent his friends a text message that he was jumping into the River Tana due to depression over a Ksh700,000 debt he owed.

But his father refuted claims that his son was in debt or that he was mentally unfit. Wairatu told journalists that Wanjaro called him at around 4.30 am on July 14 and he sounded scared.

The musician told his 73-year-old father that he had been abducted before his phone went off.

His body was later found floating in the Masinga Hydroelectric Power Station’s dam on the boundary between Embu and Machakos counties.
