"We will allow our brothers and sisters attending prayer services to do so freely. So, Tony, no clamping of vehicles at that time," Sakaja declared.

He disclosed that he had already initiated the process of legalising the new order by adding it to the Nairobi City County by-laws.

"We have tabled it under the Finance Act so that is passed in the county assembly and I am happy that the Chair of the Budget is here," the County Chief remarked.

Sakaja urged the Muslim community to maintain kinship ties to realise cohesion and harmony. He also called for tolerance among the Nairobi residents.

"Nairobians should embrace one another regardless of race, ethnicity, status, or religion in realizing their dream of creating a city of hope, dignity, and opportunity for all," he stated.

The directive came a day after Sakaja made changes to lane in the Nairobi CBD following the closure of the Hilton Hotel.

On April 18, the Governor announced that the barriers erected at the entry and exit of the hotel's drop-off point which had been installed 53 years ago.

He argued that the walkway would benefit the pedestrians but clarified that it remained closed to motor vehicles and PSVs.
