11 Kenyans have already bagged medals in the IAAF championships in Beijing China - either Gold, Silver or Bronze. But how much money are they taking home?
According to the IAAF a total of US$ 7,194,000 (Ksh741 million), in prize money, will be paid to the leading athletes and teams in the 47 events this year.
On top of their individual awards, athletes who achieve a world record will be eligible for a special world record bonus worth USD $100,000 (Ksh10.3 million)
In individual events, athletes who emerge top eight will be awarded an amount of money ranging between USD $60,000 (KSh6.2 million) for gold medalists, down to USD $400 (Ksh41, 200) for those who finish eighth place.
For individual events participants who emerge top eight will be awarded as follows;
1. Gold: USD $60,000 (Ksh6.2 million)
2. Silver: USD $30,000 (Ksh3.1 million)
3. Bronze: USD $20,000 (Ksh2.1 million)
4. Fourth place: USD $15,000
5. Fifth place: USD $10,000
6. Sixth place: USD $6000
7. Seventh place: USD $5000
8. Eighth place: USD $400
In the relays event, teams that emerge top eight will be awarded as follows (per team);
1. Gold: USD $80,000 (Ksh8.2 million)
2. Silver: USD $40,000 (Ksh4.1 million)
3. Bronze: USD $20,000 (ksh2.1 million)
4. Fourth place: USD $16,000
5. Fifth place: USD $12,000
6. Sixth place: USD $8000
7. Seventh place: USD $6000
8. Eighth place: USD $4000
Kenyan athletes have been a highlight of exemplary performance in athletics let alone in the ongoing IAAF champions in Beijing China.

Meanwhile, six Kenyans have already been awarded the gold medal, three of them silver while two others the bronze medal.
