Governor Mwangi wa Iria's House Raided

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on Thursday morning raided the home of Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria over corruption claims.

The 6am invasion was at his home along Katanga Road in Thika Town, which was prompted by graft allegations filed against Wa Iria.

EACC Spokesman Kirichi Marimba indicated that: “It is part of our probe and we are within the law for the searches. We will give you more information when the raids are over”.

Marimba added that they were also targeting friends and relatives of the Governor who reside in Nairobi and Kiambu.

The offence under investigations is still undisclosed to the public.

In September 2015, Two suspects - a man and a woman - were arraigned in court for allegedly conning Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria's wife Sh4.8 Million in a fraudulent land deal.

The two were said to have sold a 5-acre piece of land to the Governor's wife using forged documents.
