'Hate Speech' MPs Now Turn Anger on Duale

A section of Members of Parliament (MPs) arrested two weeks ago over hate speech remarks has now turned up the heat on Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale.

Addressing a rally during the homecoming ceremony of Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa told Duale to refrain from utterances they termed disrespectful to Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Mr Mohammed questioned why the Majority Leader was castigating Mr Odinga for holding rallies in support of the apprehended legislators.

“I heard Duale accusing Raila of holding rallies for hate mongers in their home turfs. I am left wondering who between Duale, Kuria and us is the hate monger?” He asked.

On the other hand, Jumwa told the Majority Leader to engage with people of his level, warning him against spewing abusive statements.

“Duale should learn to play in his league and not pick battles with people who are beyond him. He needs to learn to respect CORD leader Raila Odinga and desist from issuing insulting remarks,” she declared.

During the weekend, Duale reportedly accused the CORD leader of glorifying 'hate mongers' by holding peace meetings on their behalf.

Meanwhile, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has turned around and condemned Odinga, claiming that he had taken over peace caravan campaigns planned by the freed lawmakers and is using them as his political tool.

The recent development now seems to have gone against earlier sentiments by the leaders who promised to work together to preach peace across the country and even had a reconciliation lunch date.
